Broad knowledge
and German Desk
Bard van Veen (1975) graduated from Leiden University in 1999. After graduating, he was admitted to the bar in 2000. He has been working at Severijn Hulshof since 2007.
With over 25 years’ experience in civil construction law, Bard has been involved in various (major) national and international construction projects. He acts on behalf of all parties that maybe involved in construction projects, such as clients, contractors, installers, suppliers, architects and structural engineers.
Bard draws on his extensive experience to handle cases both in and out of court.
Bard specializes in integrated contracts and has a particular interest in contracts for technical installations. He also focuses on international contracts for the sale of movable property.
Because he speaks and writes German fluently, but above all because he understands the specificities of doing business in and from Germany, Bard heads Severijn Hulshof’s German Desk. He assists German parties in the Netherlands, as well as Dutch parties operating (or wishing to operate) in Germany. Thanks in part to his extensive network, Bard is able to provide these parties with expert advice.
Drawing on his experience, Bard publishes regularly in construction law journals. He is a regular commentator for a magazine published by the Institute for Construction Law, and a regular contributor to other construction related magazines.
Bard also regularly delivers courses for lawyers, in-house lawyers, management, project managers, work planners, site managers, etc., covering standard general terms and conditions in the construction industry, contract awareness, and delays and disruptions.
Bard is a member of the Construction Law Association, the Association of Construction Law Lawyers, the German-Dutch Lawyers’ Association and the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
