Joost comes from a construction industry family and is a great enthusiast of cranes and excavators. Well before his career as a solicitor, he worked on site for a contractor, where he learnt the language and practices of the construction trade. In his work, Joost is characterized by a genuine contractor’s mindset: he prefers to think in terms of opportunities and solutions rather than problems and risks. Clear language, concise advice, straight to the point.

Around 250 sets of tender documents and specifications pass his desk each year. He advises on, and litigates in, a wide variety of high-profile cases relating to these documents. He also regularly litigates in summary proceedings concerning public procurement throughout the country.

Joost is the regular adviser to various brand associations, particularly in relation to public procurement law, including Techniek Nederland, MKB Infra, VHG (Association of Gardeners and Landscape Contractors), ACA GWG (Public Procurement Advisory Centre) and BNA (Brand Association of Dutch Architects). This means, once again, that he is uniquely familiar with all the latest developments within the various sectors of the construction industry.

Joost is also a regular columnist for various construction related magazines. In addition, he frequently writes academic articles on public procurement law topics. He is a much-sought-after speaker and delivers numerous courses and presentations, always with a focus on practical application.

Joost is a member of the Association for Construction Law (VBR), the Association of Construction Law Lawyers (VBR-A) and the Association of Public Procurement Law Lawyers (NVVA).
